Cantor Herb Cole Lets loose at Temple Sinai's Rock and Roll Purim !!
 
As a Cantor at a major suburban Atlanta Temple, I am called upon to do many crazy things
for my congregation. Dressing up as a greaser is one of the simpler less embarrasing tasks
I am asked to perform. Welcome to my new Web page. This Web Page is designed to share some
of the Cole family's and my most recent escapades and interests with you. Please take a
moment and scan through the various areas of this site. Some of these topics are personal.
Some are commercial. Some are related to discoveries I've made that have been helpful
and useful in my daily life. I hope you find the pages herein amusing, somewhat educational

John McLane wails away at Rock and Roll Purim 99
Each year Rabbi Ron Segal and I try to plan an outrageous celebration using the medium
of the ritual evening service. This year we chose to sing all of the standard prayers
of the Ma-arriv service to the music of the standards from the rock and roll fifties,
sixties and seventies. It was a great night for everyone. We had at least 200 crazily
costumed congregants wailing the blessing for the wine to the music of Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill".
"I think its fine to drink the wine". The show was terrific. Cantor Cole, (me), chanted a
few verses of the original "Megillat Esther". Rabbi Ron read a hilarious English translation of
the Esther story. The congregation Booed Haman, Yayed Mordechai and all in all we sang a lot,
acted crazy and made a lot of people happy. What a great way to spend a Monday Evening!!!!
